How we use it and our lawful basis
- To run competitions, take payment, issue entry numbers and deliver prizes — necessary to perform our contract with you.
- To check entrants and winners are eligible (18+, UK resident) and to prevent fraud — legitimate interests and legal obligations.
- To publish winners (first name, town or postcode area and entry number) — legitimate interests in showing competitions are run fairly, as described in our competition terms.
- To keep entry, draw and payment records — legal obligations (for example tax and accounting) and legitimate interests in being able to evidence fair draws.
- To answer enquiries across our businesses — legitimate interests or steps you ask us to take before a contract.
- To send marketing — only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who we share it with
We share personal data only with trusted providers who process it for us under contract: our payment provider (Stripe), website hosting, email delivery and professional advisers. We may share information with the police or regulators where the law requires. We do not sell your personal data. Where a provider processes data outside the UK, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place.
How long we keep it
- Competition entry, draw, winner and payment records: 6 years from the end of the competition, to meet accounting requirements and to evidence that draws were fair.
- Winner verification documents: deleted within 3 months of the prize being awarded.
- Enquiries that do not lead to an order: up to 2 years.
- Account details: until you close your account, then as above for any orders.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Some rights are limited where we must keep records by law. To use your rights, contact us using the details above; we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.
Children
Our competitions are only open to people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect competition entries from children; any we find are removed and refunded. Wallace Dance Academy enquiries about children are made by a parent or guardian.
Security and changes
We use secure connections (HTTPS), access controls and reputable providers to protect your data. We may update this policy; the latest version is always on this page.
